Cherry Blossom Flowers, Andrew Price (3D)

Title: Cherry Blossom Flowers
Name: Andrew Price
Country: Australia
Software: Blender, Photoshop

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing cherry blossom season here in South Korea and was so inspired that I decided to remake it in Blender.

Took about 2 days all up.

Made with Blender, rendered with Cycles and post processing in Photoshop and Magic Bullet Looks.

Here's the wireframe:

I also made a tutorial if anyone is interested:

Beautiful work,I like the color of your flowers,it's realistic.
Cherry blossoms always give me feeling of effeminate girls,so I think you can make the petals softer.

well that's because they would reject it on based on voting. now they are just accepting anything coz many people are angry at their artwork being rejected, so the admins got angry and started accpeting every artwork.

Wow is that true? I didn't mind my work getting rejected as it pushed me to try harder.

If that's true I think this forum may quickly lose it's attraction as it's known for having a certain standard of work. I guess we'll see.

yup thats true, and yes, about being rejected it did helped in pushing harder.
i think it has lost its attraction but wait... one of the admin said they are going to get the standard back with a new voting or something like that rule to bring attention to the good stuff.

Great work Andrew, looks really good

If I may I'd like to add 2 suggestions/minor crits;
1) There's something missing in the lighting or shading of the flowers. I can't put my fingers on it, but I miss some subtle details which normally increase that organic feel.
Sorry I can't be more precise :(
2) The leafs are a bit too perfect I think. Normally they would have more wrinkles and imperfections. These could also aid in giving that extra organic feel.

Just some minor things which you may keep in the back of your head for another time
Looking forward to your next one.

Martin

Very very nice, although I don't like the hard light on the right side.. in floral photography one must add a reflector to make the shadows even. And one must also avoid harsh light to show the beauty of the flowers

It's just a matter of taste I know, but I just liked to share these tips; they might help you in the future.

Cheers!
