Unhappy Back to C4D after almost a decade - batch render wont...render?

Hey All! I've been doing mograph for a while now, but mostly in Maya...and I've really not been enjoying the process....I'm finally dedicating time to get back into Cinema4D, and i'm really loving it so far...just one weird problem I can't find any help on.

I'm rendering a simple dynamics scene. Jar pours coins into another jar with coins. HDRI lighting, one light, and two materials.

When doing "render to image viewer", the image looks all fine and good and renders in just under 30 seconds. I added the project to batch render...and....well, nothing. The CPUs are fully utilized, but no frames are being rendered. I left it running for hours without a single frame rendered. Am I doing something wrong as it relates to the simulation? Do I need to cache it first?

I have two emitters filling up the jars and then the animation starts at frame 390. After starting the render at 390 didn't work, I tried setting "render all frames" - no difference.

I think its because its doing the GI prepass. In your file its 14 passes times 658 frames. Try setting the output to 3 frames and render that in batch. It seems were not getting much feedback about the GI prepasses when rendering in batch but it is rendering. I just rendered 3 frames. You could try to render with just QMC.

Primarily, this is a bad scene to be using GI with. All those refractions, all those reflections and frankly the GI does virtually nothing for the image except increase the render times 100x. Unless youre going to spend a bit of time optimising the scene for render speed, its something you really shouldnt be using here.
