Trouble animating

Hello. I have been learning Maya for a few months now. I started with the ball tutorial on youtube, and have since done some basic modeling, character modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation. However, I'm very puzzled at the moment. I used to be able to move my camera around, and set frames, and then render that movement. Now, whenever I move my camera, and set the key frame, and move it some more, and set another frame, it doesn't stick. It just renders wherever my camera left off last. It's like it overwrites all of my other key sets with the last one I did. So, instead of the rendering showing the camera moving around my object, the rendering is just one shot with no movement. It must be something very basic that I'm not doing, I just can't figure it out. Thank you for any help.

If you can't animate or keyframe your camera, there are probably 2 reasons for that:

1) you have NOT created a camera (your using one of the four perspectives - top left persp etc)

2) you must select your camera in the outliner when you keyframe its attribute. This mean that the keyframes you create will apply to the objects you have selected.
