yes even if rigging can be 'fast' ..skinning (correct/accurate skinning) is long and time consuming (depending on the mesh density of course )..no magic tool for that . and after maybe you'll need some morphing ..which is longer too ..

Looks nice. Did you ever try to export those weights to c4d? Does it work? One could use blender to generate the base weights and continue to refine in C4D ...
