Track View - Curve Editor extreme Slow / Freezes

I am having heavy problems with the Trackview Curve Editor..
Every time I open it it takes about 5 minutes / forever to show curves meanwhile it freezes completely

Here is just a camera merged to one scene. There it´s the same.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/laeceuj4i27muzg/Trackview.max

I had the same problem once and couldnt find a solution.

Forgot to Mention: 3ds Max 2013 x64

Your file is showing error on opening in 3ds max 2014. It's only 30Kbs though, maybe it's the reason.

Strange.. should be about 80 kB (because only one camera in it)
the link should be:

Well, scene is definitely ultra laggy for me in 3ds max 2014. It's slow on opening, then on timeline scrubbing and Curve Editor opening also take ages.
Try contacting KellyM directly on forum or by mail:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?userid=63324

It will be easier for him to research the issue taking into account you have a scene.

The scene got over 55000 retimer tracks in trackview
I 've seen this bug before ( and i think Kelly too )

To clear a scene from the retimers, type the following in the listener and hit enter

undo off ( while (retimerman.numretimers > 0) do (retimerman.deleteretimer 1) )

This might take some time ( ~ 5 mins ), maybe ther is a quicker way

I guess you simply stripped that uploaded scene from all objects and it is'nt really a fresh scene ?
Essentilly i think you brought the problem in by merging from the initially problematic scene ( camera in this case ). So you might open your original scene and run the command above and save the scene -> should do the trick

Ah - found the post were i read about that problem before

http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/maxs...-empty-retimers

Note: seems to have a quicker way of dealing with the problem too
t=trackviewnodes;n=t[#Retimer_Manager];deleteTrackViewController t n.controller;gc()

BTW: with that code, you'll get a real long delay afterwards, when loading the next scene or reseting/quitting Max

Question:

On which PU (product update) are you ? Maybe this bug was fixed already in some of the PU's ?

Thumbs up

Thank you so much. That realy worked fine. Especialy the second script. (The first one I interrupted after one hour on the whole scene, but it was still doing something)
Iam working on 3dsmax2013 update6

I first encountered this problem a couple of days ago. Then a second scene started showing the same symptoms. To the point I could not make much progress on them. Fortunately I found this thread and solved the problem!!! I just signed up to thank you guys for sharing the solution.

BTW, I am using PU6 for 2013....I am surprised I did not see a more recent update.

Best.

Smile

sweet - the retimers issue fixed the problem , and also fixed a problem with the curve editor, resetting the zoom of the curve whenever you try to move a key. ( very very frustrating. )

also there is a script for it at script spot here:

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/s.../clean-retimers

it has seriously changed my life right now.
