TP Pseudo Orbit
So I'm trying to have particles that orbit a target. I know there is the Orbit Op but I don't want the particles to stick to the orbit of the target. I want it to influence it, and maybe even orbit the target, but I want it to be able to break the orbit.
As an example, look at flocking behavior which is the perfect model.
I tried using a distance condition and attempted 2 ways to achieve it that didn't work. Particle was using the direction of a velocity node to head towards the target.
1. After the distance was satisfied, it turned on a force op set to spherical. This just nudged it to the side and the particle kept going.
2. After the distance was satisfied, it turned on a new velocity node set to position with the same force as the previous example and this caused the particle to basically bounce from the target's center to whatever the force caused it to go.
Sorry for saying the word "orbit" so many times. I hope I was clear enough. In essence, I'm trying to make a weak orbit so it can come and go.

orbitvector is the cross product of an up vector and distance to center vector. You can use that as force direction.
