Sparta Rev.25: Sparta is the world's first pen interface for a point cloud.

Hi guys :D

Do you remember the Sparta?
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthr...?f=59&t=1070752

I have a latest Sparta news for you today.
On Jan. 8, I updated Sparta to Rev.25.

A most big difference with Rev.24 is that Rev.25 can treat multi-object. To sum up, Sparta can only handle a single point cloud, and single camera, single geometry until now.

Then, you need to move from general CG software you always used to Sparta and back again. In addition, doing a trial and error in Sparta was difficult, because the data that can be handled is few.

In this update, Sparta resolve these issues all at once.

In terms of UI enhancement, I've added to a layer widget like Photoshop, and a timeline widget can be visualize multi point cloud in order to treat multi object.

And, I've reviewed the design of the entire UI.

I think the past colorful color scheme slightly snatch your concentration. After this, a trend of UI become white and gray themed, and giving the color to only active UI.

In addition to this, over ten bugs are fixed. Iím pretty sure that Sparta became more stable than before.

Thanks. Enjoy new Saprta :D

Hi

This looks really interesting. I will have to give it a go when I have time.

What kind of formats does it support?

Hi, danylyon.
Sparta can import and export a point cloud from general CG software which you are always using as Realflow's ".bin" format.

This looks really helpful! Thank you!

I think the idea is brilliant. Does any other software support this kind of workflow right now?

Is there a way to reset a user password?
I seem to have forgotten it and i can't find a way to get it back.
There's no visible option on the website, nor on the app's login screen.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Would be great to have native support for PRmans and Houdinis Point Cloud format. :-)
Being able to view and fix / paint any arbitrary attribute would be really a novum.
If it could load that, you could actually paint / fix the light in a scene. Check the video at the bottom: http://renderman.pixar.com/view/point-clouds .. that's how that would look.

Also you could actually "paint into a volume".. imagine being able to paint clouds for example.

Yeah, you can use Sparta on your workflow :)

Following app can import and export cache:
Maya, 3dsMax, SoftImage, Houdini, Realflow, Cinema4D, LightWave

And, following app can only import cache:
Nuke, Blender, modo601, Krakatoa, TP5, Fury2

Hi, danylyon.

I'm planning that importing a point cloud as geometry.

Thank you for teaching PRman's point cloud file information :D

Hi guys :D

On Jan. 24, I updated Sparta to Rev.28.
A most big difference with Rev.27 is that Rev.28 can merge several point cloud.

In the past version of Sparta, user can move the point cloud or remove it by using remove brush. On the other hand, there were not a functionality for increasing the point.

But on this update, user will be able to do an addition of the point cloud by using merge functionality. You can creates the animation as with modeling process to iterate "Merge point cloud → Shave point by Remove Brush".

In addition, the point cloud are automatically colorize like a mask, in order to identify the several point cloud which is shown on a viewport. Sparta never drives you up a tree even when you imported the many point cloud.

And, I fixed the several bugs.
Sparta became more stable than before.

Thanks. Enjoy new Sparta :D
