Getting new parts for PC - GTX 660 3gb

I will by upgrading my computer, to run Maya better. Now I got Nvidia GTX 295, and this card use SLI, but what I have found on google that Maya dont use SLI.

PC specs

GTX 295
i7 920 - 4Ghz
Asus Rampage 2 Extreme
Memory 6GB 1600Mhz
120gb ssd

And what I im going to upgrade is Memory from to 24gb, and GPU to GTX 660 3GB.
But some people said that nvidia 600 series, dont support Maya. Im thinking of getting GTX 660 3GB or Radeon HD7970, Im also gaming in free time.

I have the same issue, Was gonna purchase gtx 660 or 680 but now I learned 600 series dont have the compute power and perform miserably in MAYA, I didnt actually see this, but people experience real bad performances.

I ve been using maya with 4850 quiet happily, It performs like 1 fps with scenes hundreds of objects with 12 -14 mil polycount.

I am desperately in dispute of getting a FirePro v5900 or 7950 or above, they are similarly priced, I would have gone the FirePro way but I also game and from what I also found out a v5900 gets around 8000 3dmark vantage score where else my current crossfire 4850 gets 14000... Boooo FirePro...

Then I was on Houdini Side and read not so good stuff for 7950 on Houdini....

and then there is the issue of Viewport 2.0 performing gazillion times faster than standart viewport in maya with latest video cards/////..

So I bump this thread... Help us out community
