Is this still going? Hopefully this is the right place to post this (only just discovered this forum and am now kicking myself).

My first Torso in Zbrush, 'bout half a days work.
Very crude base torso taken from Maya to Zbrush.

Would love to know where I've gone wrong.

painting from a photo

here's my contribution !!!

painted in photoshop 6 over about 8 hours in 3 sittings.
whilst painting this i really started to
notice how the human skin changes colour in light and shadow...

i stuck my reference on the side and copied the image by eye,
sometimes using guidlines for proportions...

i also like to use the Liquify tool a bit, to push things around, and back into shape if ive done some detail too soon...
this was great fun to paint , a real challenge !!!

i didnt want to spend too much time on it to get it perfect, i like to move on and keep practising !!

please crit...

dan

Hi Dan,

For some reason your image is not appearing in your post, at least I can't see it - would love to see you work, can you repost your image? Thanks!

I recently cleaned up my studio space a bit, and found a stack of sketchpads from an informal figure drawing group i used to be a part of. since relocating to a different city, i have fallen out of practice with regular figure drawing from life. this thread reminds me how much i miss it!

here's a torso, disregard the foot under the knee- i started early and the model shifted when i was still laying out the initial proportions, and i rarely erase..

these are usually quick poses, so 10-15 minutes is the usual time spent. conté on paper, 20"x30"

i've assembled additional figure drawings on a gallery on my website
www.leapoffacliff.com/figuredrawing.html

i'm really interested in putting together another informal drawing group now.

thanks guys for the inspiration, some wonderful, wonderful work in this thread!
