Silo with other apps?

What other apps do you use with Silo?

Any application that import .obj files. really any render app works fine if that's what you're getting at.

I use 3ds Max, Bender, Vue 5 Infinite and some Messia Studio with Silo. Most often I export to .obj

I would add to the list above, Shade, ultimate unwrap3d, lightwave, and Poser

Thanks. I was asking mainly because I wanted to make sure it worked with Motion Studio. I guess I probably should've come to the conclusion that, yes, it will. Anyway, thanks.

I never have heard of motion studio before. If it is the same program I googled then I don't think silo will work with it well. Is it a web layout tool?? If it is this then it seems to only work with image files. Silo doesnt really have a renderer natively so getting finished images with it requires another application like listed above.

Sorry, I meant Alias's Motion Builder. It seems to be a good animation tool, but if anyone else knows a better one, or one that might work better with Silo, I'm all ears.

That makes alot more sense! I am sure you can get the objects in but you will need to rig them up too. I can't remeber if MB has tools to do this or not. I always exported in fbx to MB with bones already assigned.

Works really well with Electric Image. It exports to EI's native format, FACT.

Unless you are using Maya, (pretty sure maya will accept FBX straight from MB ) You cannot rig in MB and then render the animation in your other 3D have to setup your skeleton in whatever app you are going to render in. FBX that to MB to animate, then merge it back to your base rig in the rendering app.

silo would be useful as your modelling tool, but you waould have to do the rig setup in another app like LW, XSI, Maya etc

Lightwave, Carrara5, Silo, Hexagon, Vue Infinite and ZBrush.

I use Silo with Lightwave 8.5, Vue 5 Infinite, and Strata 3D CX 4.2.
