White Light and TP

Hey all,

Trying to render TP here with "White light" so far no luck, did any one manage to do this or is it not possible? I managed to have something going with the standard emitter but its not what I'm looking for.

Regards, Robert

It was possible in R12 (with WL version 1).
But youre right, its not possible in R13 or R14 for now.

Ive tried this with the same (R12) setup, but nothing is rendering (with WL version 2)!

Weve to call Paul for a update!

Sorry Robert, it is possible with R14!

But I must copy all the stuff inside my old R12 file and copy it into a new scene in R14 (Strange).

Then it render all with some parameter tweaking, which changes from V1 to V2 !
Also you must arrange all your render settings new again

in the WL object tab (render settings), you have to put the particle geometrie object (TP) or a null object (normal particles system)!

Best regards,
Thomas

Thanks a lot Thomas,

Wow, that seems to be a real pain to do it this way, anyway I don't have R12 installed anymore.
I tried to ask a question on Pauls forum, but have trouble with my password and when I try to reset it, it gives me the message that I don't have permission to do so, Strange!

Hopefully Paul will chime in and comes with a suggestion, otherwise I will write him a message.

Thanks a lot for replying, its very much appreciated.

Kind regards, Robert

Hi Robert,

here is a TP with Matrix cloning scene file for you

Also I found a solution for my copy+paste R12 file problem.
I thought I must done this, because the renders are all black with no WL effects.

The solution was a different expose parameter tweaking between WL1 + WL2 versions.

Now, all files are fine

Best regards,
Thomas

Thanks a lot Thomas,

Very nice to have this file which is working in R12. I'm busy with something else now, but hopefully I can have a play with your file and swap things from my own file with that of yours. Hopefully then I will have a clearer picture of why this is not working.
Soon as I know more, I will post back.

Thanks for your great help.

Kind regards, Robert

sorry, I almost missed this thread altogether.
There is indeed a problem with TP particles and White lights version 2 in >R14 , which after some investigation, is caused by (another) undocumented behavioral change in the API somewhere between 13 and 14. I have managed to fix (read work around) this issue whilst retaining full R12,R13,R14,R15 compatibility. I will post a plugin update, via dropbox, today.
