Frames not changing real time when moving timeline indicator

Hi, I'm new to AE and I'm following the tutorials on digital tutors.

The issue I'm having is that in the tutorial video, when the instructor moves her timeline indicator, the frame would change in real time correspond to the frame/time that the indicator is moved to, but mine doesn't show the frame until I let go of the indicator. It's frustrating because I don't know what that frame looks like until I move to it.

I hope what I said makes sense...

Do you have live update enabled? In your timeline there will be a series of little icons to the right of the time indicator, which may be in frames or a timecode depending on your setting. Then there should be a search bar, and to the right of that there are some icons. It will be the 2 boxes over the top of one another. Should be the second on in from the left.

When this is turned on you can see things update automatically, otherwise it won't update as you work b/c its faster that way. I always have live update turned on. Hope that helps.

The other thing it could be is that you have your Caps lock on, but if you did that you would see a little red message in your comp window.
