Question Mapping Image On Terrain

Hey guys,

Very new to Vue so excuse what is probably an easiest solution. I'm creating a 3D virtual map and am attempting to project a real maps gridlines across my terrain material. Have tried a number of techniques that usually are fairly easy to achieve with an alpha but I'm obviously missing a massive step as it always tampers with the original materials colour.

I'm using Vue 10 integrated with Cinema 4D R13
