Selected Face/Edge/Vert attributes?

Need to figure out how to edit the absolute position and size of a selected Face/Edge/Vertex... Using Maya 2014

Solved this original bit:

I'm learning Maya 2014 and I'm used to working with a Universal Tool Gizmo... you know, Translate, Rotation, Scale all in one gizmo and not have to switch between them constantly...

Is there one in Maya or do I simply have to bite the bullet and get used to switching constantly? If there is, I can't seem to find it...

NM... found it on the general tab... it doesn't seem to operate the way I'm used to, so I guess I'll have to get used to switching anyway

I think you can just press "t" to bring up the universal manipulator...

Doesn't work in Maya 2014, at least not in my installation.

Struggling with this a bit... now I'm trying to figure out where to get absolute dimensions of a selected polygon face... I can do the dimensions of an object, of course... not a polygon face, or the position of a vert or the position/size of an edge...

Under Window-General Editors-Component Editor-Polygon tab, you can view vertex positions of selected components.

Thank you, Flebay.

am looking at that now, and that requires that I actually alter vertex position individually.

Is there no way to do that for an edge or a face?

Say I have a cube that is 1x1x1, and I need one edge to be exactly 0.5 in length at a 45 degree angle... I don't see any controls that allow me to do that... I would think they would be right up front and easy to find...

Ctrl+t is the actual hotkey.

That links to the equivalent menu entry: Modify > Transformation tools > Universal Manipulator

Control T works
Thanks Keilun.

Can you help me with Face/Edge/Vertex attributes?

You could always create helper geometry in the size/rotation you need and snap verts.

I really don't undestand. How do you model something from plans if you don't have the ability to adjust the absolute size values of an edge or a quad? My poly modelling experience comes mainly from Hexagon which gives you that ability up front...
