Question Best Quicktime version for After Effects 6

Hi All,

I use After Effects only occassionally and have not updated since purchasing version 6 standard edition (that's version 6 , not CS6) quite a few years back(yes, that qualifies me as a luddite).

My current PC is running Windows XPpro 32bit(SP3) and I recently installed AE6 on this box
and I can get it to run if it's in compatability mode (set to Windows 2000).

Problem is, I want to render out of AE6 in Quicktime format but I seem to be having problems with Quicktime playing nice with AE6 as it crashes every time I try to render(I'm using Quicktime v6.3 but not the pro version of Quicktime).

Can anyone please advise on the best version of Quicktime to use in this case and whether or not it needs to be the Pro version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
