cull distance per object or layer

I have a large scene that has many detail objects like trees, grass, plants, rocks etc. Is there a cull feature that will cull the objects based on distance like in most game engines? Thanks.

yes that is possible in maya. you have to change your camera setting. in the image bellow click the button to open your camera setting and set the far clip plane to a lower value (e.g. 1~500 instead of 10000)

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that clips the entire scene. I am looking for a culling on a per layer/ object basis. Is this possible?
