[BUG] Maya creates "Keyboard" folders...

We have noticed in the office that when people switched to Maya 2013 sp2 ( Windows7 )all of a sudden these "Keyboard" folders starts to appear everywhere... I have no Idea on what is causing this, and why the [ insert word of choice ] it needs the Keyboard folder.

It's really polluting our server and structures.

A quick search and I found that I'm not alone.

An extensive search gave zero, nada, zip nothing for a solution. Is the problem active in 2014? Is there anyway that we can force Maya to not create these folders? It is a real problem, and the damn folders keep popping up everywhere.

The problem doesn't seem to exist on OS X/Linux.

I was finding it seemed to have something to do with .fbx files and previewing them using the Quicktime FBX plugin for viewing them. Is that the same for you?

EDIT: this is a know bug (MAYA-14418)...so fingers crossed.

It's annoying alright, but one way to prevent it is to use proper project directories only, then Maya doesn't do it.

Cheers,

Same here. Have to perform a hefty cleanup job across the server. Quite annoying.

I find the Keyboard folder is only created when opening a maya file by double clicking in explorer. If you open maya first and use the open dialog, no Keyboard folder is created.

It actually happens when you launch maya, from a arbitrary location. It clutters down the pipeline, and I hope they will have a patch for it soon.
