Maya API - Explanation needed 'envelope'

Hi guys,

can anyone explain me the following code?
I've found nothing accurate on the internet...

Code:
envelope = OpenMayaMPx.cvar.MPxDeformerNode_envelope envelopeHandle = dataBlock.inputValue( envelope ) envelopeValue = envelopeHandle.asFloat() offsetHandle = dataBlock.inputValue( self.offset ) offsetValue = offsetHandle.asDouble bulgeExtendHandle = dataBlock.inputValue( self.bulgeextend ) bulgeExtendValue = bulgeExtendHandle.asDouble()

Thanks!

The Maya Python API documentation describes it. Actually it refers to the same exact static var:

Quote:
Accessing static MObjects of an MPx class

The proxy classes provide some standard information to a developer about the node that is being used. This includes attribute objects that are used to define the node. To access a static class MObject in the Maya Python API, similar code can be used:

envelope = OpenMayaMPx.cvar.MPxDeformerNode_envelope

After making this call, the envelope will be an MObject for MPxDeformerNode::envelope.
