forum "search" function

Ok guys... what I'm looking for is search function that contains also older threads.
I'm aware of

Is there a way to "search -from the beginning" not only "show -from the beginning" ?

Seems to me that "search" work only for current year and doesn't show threads older that 2012.

Thanks in advance.

There are options on the search panel to customize the search range, including Find Posts From A Year Ago and Older. They are in the drop down lists at the bottom and they work just fine for finding posts as far back as 2001 when the forum started. All of the posts are still there and searchable. The trick is using the right key words or search parameters, which is often the issue with any search engine.

Thanks Kirt for quick rescue.

Looking around I found this thread
especially "No we have to drag some people from highend3d =) " . These days it's quite funny

Anyway back to my problem ... for example I'm looking for every single thread that contains "particle" word so:

-Search by Key Word Key Word(s): particle Particle particles Particles (searchEntirePosts)
-Find Threads with : at least 1 replies
-Find Post from: A year ago and Older
-Sorts Results by: last posting date in descending order
--Show results as: Threads
--Search in forum: Autodesk Maya + Also search in child forums ON

And the oldest thread I can get is:
which is 2011.

So what would be your suggestion to get also this one

Thanks again!!

I changed descending order to ascending and got results back to 2005.

However, "particles" may be too general of a search term to find that particular thread. The problem with the search function is that it hits a limit at 120 posts. So, it's only going to find the first relevant 120 results. And they are going to be the most current ones. To find that specific thread, you might have to search for the username. Which is difficult if you don't remember who made the post. That's not a helpful solution.

Your other option is to use the Google custom search option at the top of the Search page or site specific searches on Google (i.e. search for "particle").

Also, remember that search functions are not case sensitive nor do you need to specify pluralisms (is that even a word?) to find the same term. Searching for "particle" will return results that equal "Particle", "particles", and "Particles."
