Western Mill Building

This is a school assignment, I need to model a wild west building out of a set group of reference photos our instructor provided. I wanted to do a more challenging one out of the batch so I picked a mill.

First day I blocked out most of the form of the main building, mainly just by extruding repeatedly and trying to make sure I have good edge flow including the interior to exterior which wasn't a requirement.

The second day I added smaller details and constructed the wheel, I couldn't find an easier way to do this other than creating each inner plank by cloning the original and shifting the position. I am sure if I knew more scripting I could create a curve and duplicate them along that curve.

The texture is filler to check a flicker I was seeing at the joints of inner window frames, I did a double extrude (scale down on first extrude, push out on second) so I figured the topo should be decent.

Hey man,

Are you going for a more stylized or cartooney look?

It's a bit cartoony, all of the references she gave us to pick from were shot at a tourist trap town with each building feeling more like mini-golf decorations. I am ahead on the assignment by a little bit since I started to play with texturing and rendering, those are going to be covered this week at school.
