"Layout rectangle" what does it do?

Seems to do nothing, is not listed in the manual, and even a whatIs can't tell what it is:

whatIs LayoutUVRectangle;
// Result: Presumed Mel procedure; no definition seen yet. //

This command is found under Polygons in the UV texture editor (Maya 2012)

Maya has to have run or initialised any item at least once before it can be "whatIs"ed.

Code:
whatIs LayoutUVRectangle; // Result: Run Time Command // runTimeCommand -q -c LayoutUVRectangle; // Result: polyPerformAction polyUVRectangle v 0 // whatIs polyUVRectangle; // Result: Command // help -doc polyUVRectangle;

Interesting.
That might actually prove to be very handy.
Thanks for the info.
