Center Partly skinned Character in World?

Hello,

I'm having a problem with a character I am making at the moment. I made the mod in C4D, went to zBrush to add Details, went back to C4D and made the rig. Now I'm skinning the character. I made one side of the character and just wanted to mirror the Weights using the Weight manager.
But this doesnt work. I select a bone on the left side, I hit Copy - select the target bone and hit Replace & Flip X, but some polygons just don't get the correct weighting, in fact, they turn completely black and even lose the weight they had before.

I now realized that the mesh isn't centered perfectly. It's a tiny but too far to the left. I guess that's to reason for my mirroring problems.

Now if I try to re-center the character, the skinning prevents it.

Any Idea how I can move the actual mesh and the skinning with it?

Thanks for your ideas!

you need to turn off skin deformer (mostly for clarity to see what your doing) Then move both the mesh and the skeleton to each be properly centered. then select the weight tag on the mesh and click on set pose. This will update the binding to treat this as the original binding pose. It won't affect your weights, it just updates the stored starting position for each point.
