Mudbox Objects invisible/disappearing

I'm painting a window with a bunch of multiple pieces to it thus I've been hiding and unhiding parts so I can focus on an area and not accidentally paint onto another area. However, I am now finding that certain pieces aren't showing up when I turn the visibility back on. I've done "show all", and the pieces are still missing. Everything was there when I first started and I've check my object list and Mudbox is saying that my mesh is still there.
I've tried restarting Mudbox to no avail.
I tried to re-import the missing objects with another .fbx but those meshes aren't showing up either.
edit: I got it to work. Even though I had no flattened meshes already, I went through and flattened the ones that weren't showing up and unflattened them again, so now it works.
