Sculpting Heads

Hi,

I started a Gnomon course in Zbrush and the first homework is head sculpt.. I made 3 quick free sculpts and I hope that's the right way to approach it - I want to nail down the general forms, proportions, silhouettes and planes of the head, and only then move on to detailing.

So, what are the worst offenders that give away that it's not a human there? I can't see glaring proportional issues (although I may be misplacong the mouth...), but I'm sure there are some issues with anatomy (which I'm still wrapping my head around) and planes (same thing) and some silhouettes are probably inhuman (I'm quite at the beginning stages of learning art...).

Also, is there a clear progress from the first to the second sculpt , or are they about the same by the amount of issues? I'm wondering if I'm actually progressing by doing several sculpts..

Thanks to all in advance!
-Sergiy

Quick crits:
-Neck should be as wide as the jaw
-Forehead is too flat
-General shape of the skull is off

You'll need to sculpt quite a few to see an improvement but you're doing it correctly, just need to develop your observation skills.

Female face

Here's the next attempt, I think it fixes the previous problems although I didn't pay attention to the neck - I'll do that next time around...

Any critique is very welcome!

Any critique at all would be welcome - here's another poly head I'm making.
