General approach to modeling this auto body? Maya

Hey,

I'm can do some basic modeling but began to try this vw bus body. I am not sure what the best approach is for creating this shape. I set up image planes and I started with a square poly doing extrusions and moving vertex points onto the profile, but I ended up getting to this squared edge shape.

Should I be using a set of curves on each profile or something else? Just a bit hung up on the best approach.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Just a suggestion and a tip. Its usually good to have even edge flow throughout the model regardless of what your doing. Add some more vertical edges. Theres nothing wrong with getting a square shape. You just need to smooth, nothing in real life has 100% sharp edges or truly sharp edges. Press 3 to smooth preview and switch between 1 and 3 mode to see what your doing. When in 3 mode just add holding edges wherever they are needed to retain shape and the places where you want rounded edges you'll place the edges further from the original edge. You should probably look up some tutorials on holding edges and you'll be amazed on how much you can get your model to achieve with such a simple press of a button.
