Concept Sketch: early sketch

Horizon with soul-tornado, main foreground and character. Gotta find out more horror ideas to fill the landscape with (I have some in mind but haven't sketched them yet)

Wink Starting up

Hello everyone!

My initial sketch... I had several ideas in mind but they didn't really convince me... I think this one does (or will do)
Still a lot to do, the character has just entered from Hell's Gate (gotta design the door though), he has a mission to accomplish.. but great distance and challenges to face.

I have yet to decide what to fill the landscape with, I have some ideas in mind but will sketch them later. I found troublesome however the left side of the drawing, I'm not sure how to end the Gate and start with some Hell 'flora' going to the horizon.

I like the soul-tornado idea, it will be a nice challenge to create the effect I have in mind. (damn it looks pink right now haha)

Good luck and inspiration to everyone!

Concept Sketch: testing

Testing the scale, the pose of the character and the tornado effect.

I will model the Hell's Gate during the weekend and start sketching the main character in more detail than te first sketch.

Hell's gate? Cool! This have too many ways to explore, I like it, a big field of smoke and lava. Go ahead man!

Modeling: back

Been a little busy with personal stuff... but now back to work!

I went directly to modeling the main character, gotta get rid of some polys in the forehead, make the eyelids and mouth... and ear... I'm barely starting but I have to catch up!

Good luck to everyone else!

Modeling: main char 02

Hi everyone!

almost finished with the mouth, I have to add some polys below the nostrils but my mesh is not so clean there...

I also have to make the upper eyelids (and correct the eye socket), tweak the forehead the upper part of the head (it's somewhat pointy now), and begin with the ears

I'd appreciate your comments concerning proportions or other flaws,

Thanks!

You seem to have a good start with some of the mesh, especially the tip of the nose. That's always a hard area to get loops flowing right. I'm a bit of a nut about the corner of the mouth. I'll spend hours trying to get a good flow extending from inside the mouth and well into the cheek. Some things to think about there. - The corner of the mouth is not a point but a fold of skin. The upper lip generally protrudes further than the lower even in the corner. Keep looking at mouth reference as much as you can. You know you're studying enough when people start wondering why your staring at them.
Good luck

Thanks! Yup the corner of the mouth ended like that because of my mesh in the lip area, I added several polyons to allow the flow to go to the cheek but these polys were very small so it ended like that... Gotta fix that too! And yeah hehe, the upper lip looked kinda weird to me >>

I'm somewhat dissatisfied with the forehead and top of nose area... well gotta work on that =D

Thx!

Modeling: face

Hi!

Another update on the face, now the modeling it's almost done... gotta join the ears to the head and tweak everything, then start with the texture...

However I'll model his armor/weapons first to rest a little from this model hehe...

Damn too little time remaining, I wish I had more spare time!!

GL everyone!

More time is right, but then we would start spending a year on a still image,

25-75years old = 50 years of CG = 50 still images.... uh oh, I need to learn to work quicker aswell.

Anyhow your model looks good. For some C&C, I would recomend defining your cheek bone, and bringing your jaw line closer to his ears. Perhaps your doing all that during texturing anyway. I love texturing! Hope you have fun.

PS I tried your Idea for Noahs ropes being tight, looks great! Check it out.

Poof!

Red face

Hehe thanks for the suggestions, a year... yeah it seems like it, but the fact is that unfortunately I don't have too much time available :(, I practically only have sundays to work on this... anyway I'll do my best in any spare time that I find, I promised myself (and my lovely girlfriend) I'd do this and I'll do the best that I can.

I'll check your update on the ropes right away

GL!

Its great to be able to finish projects we started. I really want to say thanks for your C&C. Speaking of girlfriend, Noahs rope and arm, she said the same thing as you a few days before!

Thank you for your time. Are you working in CG?
