Can't decide between using Max or Maya for UV mapping.

Hi, I'm currently modeling some props for a racer video game and now I need to texture those props and I heard that Maya has really terrible UV Editor so I'm thinking of switching to 3ds Max for UV mapping. If somebody with experience in Max or Maya or both could please share his opinion I would be most grateful.

This is one of the props that I need to texture.

Also if anybody knows a good tutorials on UV mapping simple, low poly objects for games please share.

Thank you in advance.

Maya is perfectly fine for UV unwrapping. I certainly wouldn't go to max just for unwrapping.

If you really want a kick ass uv unwrapper, try uv layout: http://www.uvlayout.com/
It has a bit of a clumsy ui though.

At this point both are pretty decent at UVing. I prefer Max just because I model in there and it is easier than doing external software. There are a few good plugins that compliment the newer UV tools Autodesk has put in as well. I'm sure the same is true for Maya even though I haven't used it in a few years.

I second Headus UVLayout if you just want something to unwrap, but honestly at this point it isn't as necessary to have it as it was a while ago.
