Question Nurbs Planar Issue

Hey Guys & Gals,

I have been creating some simple Illustrations in Adobe Illustrator and importing them into Maya.

Once I have imported the AI file (Which is saved as a version 8 Illustrator file) I then go to the surfaces menu. Surfaces>Planar... with the following options

Degree: Cubic
Curve Range: Complete
Output geometry: Nurbs.

As you can see in the image below the it files the Illustrator path quite well but when I enter shaded mode it appears that not everything has a face.

What am I doing wrong? Is it a case of bad vector paths or should my output geometry be poly's?

have you ruled out camera clip plane errors making the hardware render jacked?

Hi Jason,

Just Checked and the camera wasn't breaking the planes.

I basically started again and used Polygon, Quads. Count: 1000 - its done the trick but as this particular project needs to be animated I wanted to keep the poly count down.

I may go back to the other curves and do the same thing... trying to work out best work flow.
