HMC #36 - Hollywood Dream Machines: Death Race(2008) "The Monster"

Hi Guys,

Abit late to the party but I really wanted to do some hard surface modelling. Since I dont model many cars I thought this would be a great challenge for me.

I went with the Deathrace 2008 movie and the car Jason Statham drives called the Monster which is based on a Ford Mustang 2006:

I've worked on the underlying car so far and are ready to move onto adding armor and making it look more like the car from the film.

Update

Getting there, dont think I'll finish for the challenge but I like where its going and plan to texture, setup proper shaders and maybe add the character.

Next up I'll take it to zbrush to add damage and workout how to do the weld marks. Hmm also looking at the renders I think the scale of the guns are off, will have to adjust that abit.

Not finish?
Are you kidding me? You got enough there for a final entry.

Great work so far!

THanks Roberto!

I really think the zbrush pass will bring it alive tho, esp the weld marks should make it feel more solid and like its been scrapped together Not going to be able to do that pass until tomorrow tho since I'm about to start the 8 hour travel home any minute now.

Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR HMC Crew!

Sweet recreation and i'm going to have to agree with you about the size of the guns, maybe a 1.5 size increase?

Thanks guys!

I've size up the guns abit(looks alot better)and did some research on them- they are actually mini guns like you see in the terminator or that guy from predator, they have been modded with hollywood "magic" to fit on the car. I guess they are not that big in the first place unlike some aircraft miniguns that have a similar look.

I've spent some time getting the model ready for zbrush and I'm of to do that. Hitting the mid 40's here, so hot :( Hope the pc doesnt mind some zbrushing..

wow this looks god damn awesome! I might be a little biased because I'm a mustang nut but looks really solid.
What render engine are you using? Looks a bit grainy but really nice nonetheless.

that´s really bad ass modeling. I think there´s enough details. It only needs texturing and final lighting.

I'm done with the modelling for now, I'll come back to the model after a break and add textures, better lighting. I threw on some generic shiney shaders and heres the finals.

@mlarger8: Thanks I'm playing around with the bruteforce options in vray, still lots to learn- i'm converting over to the renderer from mray starting this year.

@ahaven: thx, textures, character and environment will come later

Great challenge all, cyas in the next one.
