CPU choice (2 old servers vs a new I7)

Hi guys,
I'm in an urgent need to get some render power for as cheap as possible.
I can get 2 server machines with dual xeon quad cores L5410 from ebay and on the other side I can get a new single quad core i7 3770K for about the same price.
Do you think it would be worth to go for the server machines? It's a total of 4 quad-core CPUs but they are much older and I'm not sure if they can get the performance of a new i7. On specs it should be much better but I don't want to end up with two machines that I can't get any render power from due to the older architecture and network problems.
