Deep Image compositing crashes

Anyone done any deep image compositing in Nuke yet? I've rendered off some smoke from Max using Vray/Phoenix using the deep image *.vrst format. But when I load in the sequence to Nuke using the DeepRead node and move forward it just crashes nuke every time. This happens to me on every deep sequence I render out and makes it pretty unusable right now. I'm running Nuke 6.3v8. I tried using deep image sequences in the Nuke 7 beta but they just plain don't work right now. Any thoughts or experiences out there on deep image problems?

Nuke supports .dtex files (6.3) or the new exr2 (n7) files only for deep data.

Well currently I have a nuke plugin installed that enables it to read vray stereo files for deep image input, so it should work.

Hmm I'm rendering in another scene for the same project but now it's working. Weird, must be something with those couple of scenes, I will have to investigate them further!

It seems to be something related to the size of the file (or the data therein). I have some deep image files that are .5-1MB in size, and others that are over 50MB (they contain fluid effects like explosions and smoke). Nuke seems to end up crashing when it gets to a deep image file over the size of 20 MB or so. In the DOS box it gives me an error saying "[ShmapReader::readFragmentList] Fragment coordinates are outside of the image (511911176,0)" or another huge number.

Why on earth would you post this here? If you have any issues with the Nuke .vrst reader, please email me directly to vlado at chaosgroup dot com; the plugin has already gone through several different iterations and bug fixes.

Best regards,
Vlado
