HARDCORE MODELING!: Hollywood Dream Machines: De Lorean DMC-12

This might be a touch obvious when it comes to "Hollywood Dream Machines," but I just cannot think of anything I would rather model than the awesomeness that was the converted De Lorean time-machine from the Back to the Future trilogy. That thing was so much a part of my childhood.

I'm actually planning on doing 3 versions, though they will all share 99% of the same base model (which will be first priority). I would like to have:

* Standard De Lorean from the first movie, inside and out/
* Upgraded De Lorean from part II, including Mr. Fusion, accent lights and, of course, flight.
* Old De Lorean from part III, including the box of vacuum tubes on the hood and either the cool white-wall tires, or the rail-hubs. And dust. Lots and lots of red caked-on dust.

Lucky for me there is LOTS of reference for this car, both converted and not.

Good luck man, I think its awesome that you are willing to model that great iconic car.
It was a big part of my childhood too, smart move on the 3 different versions.

Can't wait for the end result.

Regrettably sudden computer issues have delayed my start on this project, beyond collecting all sorts of reference. Old (about 6 years) Dell XPS laptop, and the video card just died. Try to install drivers and the system doesn't even recognize that there's a video card even plugged in anymore. Can't even load image planes into maya without visual glitches. Soooo....building myself a new desktop sometime in the next week or two. XD

I'll be a little behind, but I don't think I'll have any problem finishing (at least the first version) on time. Part II won't require much more work. We'll see how much time I have to do a good texturing job for Part III though, that might have to be something I do on my own after the competition, but....I'll do my damnedest to get that one done on time too

Might have to try to borrow someone's computer between then and now, just to get the DeLorean blocked out. Getting itchy modeling hands waiting to work on this.
