Maya VrayFastSSS2 Normal map problem

Hey,
I'm a 3d student currently out on internship and have come across a problem i've tried to solve but neither i nor any of my fellow student friends know what the problem could be even though some of them are bit more advanced vray-users.

I am fairly new to sss so could have missed something simple but the problem i'm having is getting my VrayFastSSS2-shader to work properly in maya with my normal maps i made from mudbox.

The normal map works completely fine if i put it on a blinn's bump-slot but when i put it on the sss's bump slot nothing happens, just the untouched mesh showing as it would without any bumps at all. (same in both the view port and the render)
I have tried a few things like making sure it got the right tangent space as normal (or something it was called), have tried turning off two sided lighting, checked my uv that they are turning the right way.

Oh, and i have tried using high quality and view port 2.0 but without any luck.

Does anyone might have a hint on what i might have done wrong? or even if there is a better way of getting sss and using normal map etc? Would be very happy for any help i could get

What version of Vray are you using? Can you upload a simple test scene?
