Export Animation from Maya to Unity

Can somebody please help?
When I bake my animation in Maya I can export it as fbx and open it in Unity. The problem is, the rig comes with a 'partner' (with no animation). In other words, instead of having just the rig I used in Maya with the animation, I have another one (like a ghost) but with no animation. So, when I hit play in Unity to play the animation, it works, but there's the 'ghost' with no animation.
Going on 'hierarchy' tab (in unity), I realized the (main) rig is called Basic_Guy and his 'ghost' is BG_Proxy_GPR. I tried to delete it and I did, but when playing the animation again, it just comes back.
This is probably something simple, but I'm new to unity and still learning. Can someone please help?
