Nuke no representation for canvas size? really?

I am new to nuke - and was searching about seeing the canvas size in nuke, and this person asked the same question.

"actually i was just wondering if there's a way to see an outline or something like that, that shows the resolution of the the project settings, and inside that to see my footage.

for example, if i set my project to 1920x1080 and import a 720x576 footage, can i see in the View window an outline that shows a 1920x1080 frame, and inside that my 720x576 footage?"

And the reply was that nuke doesn't do that out of the box.

How will I do it then? It seems strange that this is not an out of the box setting.
If I am doing output to an LED Screen with unusual aspect ratio and resolution and I need to
composite a lot of videos for that screen how will I know how it is going to look if I can't see
at least a line square that shows me the constrictions of the LEd screen.

there is a simple answer to that question: There is no canvas in nuke!

the output size of your project is determinated by the last BG (B input) of the last merge (or by a resize/reformat after that)

so if you want to follow the canvas then create a constant in your tree, set it to the resolution you want as canvas and merge everything else over it. then you will always see the "canvas"

the project resolution you can set, is the default size for the tools like the constant, noise, bezier, roto/paint, ...
but also this can be changed for each node
