Hey,

Can you please vote for the top 5 schools among the following. I want to do a post graduate course in animation, preferably a masters degree. I have short-listed these amongst USA and Canada.

1.UCLA- (http://www.tft.ucla.edu/programs/animation/)
2.VFS- (http://www.vfs.com/curriculum.php?id=7)
3.ITT- (http://itt-tech.edu/campus/courses.cfm)
4.DMAC- (http://www.dmac.edu/index.php?src=g...ms_of_study_sub)
5.SCAD- (http://www.scad.edu/animation/ma_mfa.cfm)
6.AIC- (http://www.artinstitutes.edu/sanfra...ams&program=378)
7.VanArts- (http://www.vanarts.com/programs/3d-animation)
8.AAI- (http://www.academyart.edu/animation...fa_program.html)
9.RIT- (http://www.rit.edu/emcs/ptgrad/grad/800.php3#overview)
10.Sheridan- (http://www1.sheridaninstitute.ca/programs/0910/pcanm/)
11.Gnomon- (http://www.gnomonschool.com/programs/cg_certificate.php)
12.PAVI- (http://www.pacificav.com/gamedesign/gd.html)
13.VCAD- (http://vancouver.vcad.ca/Programs/3..._Animation_Art_)
14.CFAT- (http://www.digitalartschool.com/programs/3d_animation)
15.Herzing- (http://www.herzing.edu/school.php?program=265)

Please vote for 5 amongst the above that you think are the top ones, and have better job and placement opportunities, and a good curriculum. I have not yet done any course in animation and this is a fresh start. I am a graduate in business studies.

Please vote immediately.
Thanks and Regards

None of us have gone to ALL of these schools, so this poll is a pointless waste of time. How can we rank schools we've never been to except by heresay? There are actual (real) surveys out there on art schools that take into consideration cost, hiring rate after graduation, overall quality of work (judged by awards won at various global film festivals and art competitions), etc.

According to this survey your top five schools in north america would be in the following order:

1) Ringling
2) VFS
3) University of Southern California
4) Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning
5) CalArts School of Film/Video

Other top schools

I remember that one of the animation magazines rated the top ten schools in the US. Among those mention that weren't noted by Eldee were Gnomon, SCAD and School of Visual Arts.

Taxguy, thanks for the useful update and KrzysztofFus, I checked out SVA. The problem is it does not have masters courses for animation. It only provides animation for undergraduates.

neither does vfs, gnomon, ringling, etc. animation is a vocation, a trade. sure you can master in it- but I can guanrantee you for everybody that wastes the time it takes to get a masters in animation, there are 20 guys who can actually animate better than him.

just sayin.

SVA does have a grad program akin to animation

Praneet0007 notes," I checked out SVA. The problem is it does not have masters courses for animation. It only provides animation for undergraduates."

Response: Actually they do. Check out their Computer Art graduate program. It is very much akin to a computer graphics program.

And to be honest it doesn't matter what school you go to. Because when it comes down to getting a job your on your own. Job placement doesnt exist in this industry because a degree in this is worthless. Believe me. School is good but its about how much you can teach yourself ontop of what you learn in the classroom that will give you an edge and help you get a good job in the industry.
