BI: Adobe May Be Rethinking Cloud Apps Pricing Options After Customer Backlash(Rumor)

Quote:
"
Adobe recently switched to selling its software only over the Internet, but that's not going over well with some customers.

So, Adobe may be adding more pricing options after a "massive customer backlash," the blog Photo Rumors reported Sunday. "

that's more like it.

options are good

I would still prefer to have the option of owning my software, instead of just renting it.
The Woz talks a little bit about his issues with the cloud concept, and what we lose because of it, in a video where he discusses several other current issues that really bother him. I won't post the link here though, since most of the discussion isn't focused on the cloud. You can find the link on the same page as the link Roberto posted if you're interested.

If there's not an option to buy software or at least pay only once it's a no go for me.

it's not the price that I'm oppose to, it's that I want to own my software.

I'm also Ok to rent and upgrade it continuously, as long as I have an option to buy out at some time and be able to open my stuff forever...

We got confirmation:

Adobe CEO admits need to 'tweak' Creative Suite's cloud-only policy

But way forward for cloud sceptics 'not identified'

I said it before (and told to a local Adobe sales representative) - the software leasing should be an OPTION, not mandatory to use Adobe products. The costumers should not be satisfied until Adobe steps up and make the boxed versions available again.

The issue is renting only not the cloud.

The cloud move has certainly not effected the pirates at all:

I had a wonderful introduction to the CC this week. When working onsite on a freelance job all Adobe products on the machine I was using suddenly stopped working. After some effort I did manage to reactivate them, but geez I am glad I wasn't in crunch time, since I couldn't open my AE projects for 2 days!

Not a good feeling when you can't work, even though the software is still actually installed on the machine.Your files are effectively held at ransom! This has convinced me to stick to my CS6 license on my own machines for absolutely as long as possible.

I think moving the make the current introductory rates for Creative Cloud permanent, if it was accompanied by a lowering of pricing overall, would be a good move for Adobe politically as well as appeasing their users - the company currently still charges a lot more for international versions of its software, and after they took heat in Australia over the costs there I wouldn't be surprised if other countries might finally decide to start looking into this matter.

Something like Apple's "app pricing" would be nice
