abSymMesh - Alternatives?

I've just gone through a character setup class, and the teacher spoke warmly of the abSymMesh script, available on creative crash, as a means of speeding up the creation of blendshapes.
Now, I just tried to get it to work at home (Maya 2012) and it wouldn't. Seeing as it hasn't been updated since 2008, I'm not that surprised. But it's function is something I'd really like to have.

So, the question is: Is there an alternative script (preferably free) which does the same thing, with the added bonus of working on later versions of Maya? I also saw that CC listed Ninja Dojo (Black Belt), which I already own, as a related product... Is there a function like abSynMesh hidden in there somewhere?

I use cometMirrorMesh

This one's my favorite

Also works if your mesh isn't symmetrical.

The downside to it is that it uses a wrap deformer which is not good if you have dense meshes. I have 25gb of ram and it crashed my system with a sphere with 20k faces.

abSymMesh is working fine here under 2012....

Just copy it to /Documents/maya/2012-x64/scripts/

then type abSymMesh in script editor
