If you take the original scene and disable the "Affect shadows" on the water material (refraction settings) I believe it will produce the same results as the original without any other adjustments.

Interesting. Good advice Mr. Patton, thanks for the tips. I guess that makes sense then without the shell on there.

That really did the trick and gave me the result it was supposed to! Such a relief.
