Sticky lips that doesn't take 100 steps?

I've looked everywhere for tutorials and found only a few lackluster vague explanations. I'm really frustrated and hurting. There's a few threads here on these Maya boards with links to this... but it is screwing with my head.

This link was suggested but my results cause vertex jiggling:
http://wiki.animationsinstitut.de/d...ntoolset:sticky

And the Stop Staring book offers 10 pages of the setup.... it's a fairly heavy setup

I need something simple. One TD has a video where he selects an edge loop, shift selects the center vertice of that loop and hits a button. Automatic stickiness on contact isn't necessary. Manually animated controls are fine.

Cheers

The link you provide is the basic setup I'm familiar with in maya if you don't have a custom deformer.. the TD you mention is probably using a custom deformer.

The latest SOuP has a stickyCurves deformer.

As a result the viewport performance gets a boost and technical artists have one thing less to worry about.

Some SOuP stuff is complex to set up, but this one is different. The user interface lets you select the curves and verts ets and build the connections, which are much simpler too courtesy of the deformer.

Still can't get a decent solution for this. I can't believe there are no decent tutorials for this topic?
