Landmarks & Other Cool Places to see...

So what are the cool places to see?
  • What is the best Tour?
  • What can be seen besides Disneyland?

I was in Disneyland a few years ago. To be honest, we didn't have time to see much else, Disneyland took all our time and we still didn't get to see all of it or go on all the rides.

I'm thinking of doing other things besides the amusement parks, like visiting Santa Catalina Island, Aquarium of the Pacific, Battleship IOWA and whale watching.

I'm coming in from Norway. Going to Disneyland with some co-workers from our Houston offce the day before Siggraph. After Siggraph I have 9 vacation days before the flight back. No plans, and not even booked any hotels for these days yet. So if anyone have any good suggestions what to do and see please speak up

Last year I did the VIP tour in Universal Studios which was quite interesting. I would like to see and do more film/animation related things. And meet other artists too.

Well I'm not sure about Anaheim, but Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Pacific Palisades are neat places to hang out. Depends on what your into I guess. Hollywood and Vine is a cool place to visit, but its a bit of a tourist trap. Its well over an hour drive from Anaheim though.

Stuff to do

Last time in LA I did the Warner Brothers, Paramount & Sony studio tours- I highly recommend any of them. Also Santa Monica Pier is nice & seeing the planets from the Griffith Observatory is cool (and free).

This year, I'm hitting the Disneyland parks, will stay one night on the Queen Mary and do a Haunted Tour, and have signed up for a Price is Right taping and a Craig Ferguson taping.

A coworker recommended touring the Crystal Cathedral.

Plenty of diversions in CA.

I am planning on visiting a couple of the museums nearby, like the LA county museum of art and the Norton Simon. Even though it is closer when Siggraph is in LA, the California Science center now has the space shuttle Endeavour on-site.

There is also the Getty Museum and the Getty Villa. If you are going to the Getty Villa you need tickets. The tickets I believe are free. I think that is how they control the limited amount of parking available. (Parking was $15)

If I were in (near) LA, I'd want to go to the Getty. http://www.getty.edu/museum/

If anyone is staying down in Orange County, the U.S. Open of Surfing is happening this weekend at the Huntington Beach pier.

I haven't been in a few years, but it's an absolute blast. World class surfing, tons of great parties, and there are usually free concerts on the beach. Probably a 20 minute drive straight to the beach on Beach Blvd.
