Vray Dirt not showing

Hey guys,

I'm having a bit of a problem getting Vray dirt to show up in any of my renders. I'm wondering if its something simple that im doing wrong of if its more complicated.

I'm using maya btw.

I make a basic vraymtl then in the diffuse slot i asign the Vray Dirt texture. exactly as show in this tutorial

but nothing happens... any ideas?

I've never plugged it into the diffuse slot like that. You usually make an ExtraTEX render element and then put it the texture slot for that.

Plug it into a surface shader if you really want to see it alone.

Ya i dont really want to see it alone, I just wanted to add some more shadows with a little bit of color to a specific object. But I actually want to know why its not working as it should... or if im doing something wrong.

Is the radius big enough? Have you tried to crank up the subdivs for the vray dirt? Depending on your setup, it might need seriously high numbers, like 128.
