nuke ascii file not recognized in maya

Hi, I have a nuke ASCII file saved with Nuke7 that I am trying to open in Maya 2012, unfortunately, Maya do not recognized the Ascii.
Any idea, why?
Thanks

Maya cannot read Nuke files directly. If you want to transfer geometry to Maya then you need to write an fbx or obj file out of Nuke.
