That looks like a hoax poster somebody put together?

Or the JPEG compression on that image is so bad that the poster looks crappier than it is...

No that's all radial blur, for whatever reason.

Not sure why this is supposed to be cool or important. Unless those are kryptonite cuffs, would have to assume he's just humoring them. If this version of Superman CAN be cuffed by regular cuffs, why would I want to see that version of Superman?

Maybe the plot point is that he gets to be at odds with the gov't somehow, but enh.

So... Superman will be treated as a "costumed vigilante"?

I think it would have looked better with something more Alex Ross-ish which would be a symmetric picture with Superman having his head bowed, arms in handcuffs, and it's almost 100% symmetric and the shadows are ultra heavy?

It does raise questions though... In what world would Superman surrender himself to authorities? Why would such a thing even happen?

More likely a teaser poster for early promotion, even if official.

The fact that it leaves you with more questions than anything (handcuffs? Who's the actor? Who's the director?) would be a hint.

There'll be probably more of them, or at least a final one with proper credits before the theatrical release, the name of the actor, cast and crew, the title in a readable size and probably a more heroic pose etc...

So far, I'd say the poster did its job : people are talking about it! (good or bad, at that stage is not vital, create awareness is).

Edit : On a side note, Superman being godlike invincible and mighty I always found him the least interesting US superheroe. Save for the kryptonite trick served over and over again, nothing can happen to him, so I don't care... He lifted a whole island and eats nuke at breakfast... The lesser the powers, the better the story imho (batman, Watchmen...)

Forget the handcuffs and all the plot points, strictly from a design point of view - it's horrible.

What's going on with posters lately?

First, that batmanesque Trek poster with no spaceships at all. Now, a handcuffed Superman walking trough a corridor.

What's next? Spiderman reading a newspaper? James Bond taking a nap?

Why did they feel the need to grim'n' grittify something that should look garish and inspiring?

This is not Batman...

Wait a minute, I just realized I've seen another Man of Steel one-sheet poster here at the office.

Isn't this the official one?

In our version, instead of Comicon at the bottom it just says 2013.
