How i can get deformation more realistic?

Hi. Sorry im noob in animation 3d.  i downloaded a model form page to practice create control rigg for animation. When I flex the legs of model, the geometry is strangely deformed in the pelvis. How i can get deformation more realistic?. I read a tutorial that said something about blendshape but does nt work.
What tool do I have to use and / or what method to look for it?. Set key maybe?. Or just create new joins to fix that?

you could use the pose editor...but that task is not for a beginner...

you could start by placing on the right place the joints, look at other rigs,  this is the very basic, and also depends on how you paint the weights.
On placing the joints on the right place I usually select the rotate tool to have an Idea on how geo is going to rotate around (using the circle of the manipulator as guide) I would place the joint in the point where the circle matches the but and centered as much as I can
