Unhappy Texturing in Maya [HELP]

Hi guys, Does anyone of you knows how to texture a hard surface model and make it look realistic?

That's a very broad question...even limiting to Maya, (which helps a little) "hard surface" doesn't tell anything about what kind of object you want to make. Eggs, swords, train wheels and glass are all hard-surfaced objects and each has a different workflow.

Also, realism depends greatly on how an object will be seen in your renders. If it's background for a web image, it needs only a little attention to detail in order to look "real." If you want to zoom in to a small area that fills a high-resolution image for a magazine, you'll want lots of bump and specularity detail, along with a long list of other attributes that depend on what the object is made of. In-between shots will have varying requirements.

Thousands of books and tutorials have been written on texturing. ("texturing autodesk maya" gets more than two million hits on Google.) If you'd like particular tips or suggestions, you'll need to ask more specific questions.

One of the most important aspects you need to pay attention to is wear. When you see objects in real life, they are NEVER 100% clean and smooth.
If you have a piece of metal, adding scratches and small dents on the surface will greatly enhance it's realism.

Be sure to mind where these scratches and dents are placed though.
Usually moving parts or parts that contact other objects in the world will have more scratches and damage on the point of contact, rather than a part that is relatively untouched.
For example: A gun would have more wear/scratches on the grip than most other places because the grip is being touched all the time.
