Rigging a cable pulley - HELP
I'm deemed with the task of rigging up a cable pull system that moves a mechanical arm for a machine, and I can't quite figure out how to make it work. I want it to move somewhat like what this tutorial shows.
But I'm just stuck on how to actually do this. I am really new to Max, I'm a Maya person usually, so if someone could write me up a description or point me to a good tutorial for this, I would be forever thankful!

Here's a start.
- Create the spline shape for the pulley system
-- Make sure the first vertex starts at the hook
- Make a dummy at the position of the hook
- choose the vertices from the spline that move with the hook
-- add linked xform -modifier > pick control object > dummy
- Create the shape for the rope, ie. a cylinder with 200 height segments
- Assign Path Deform Binding to the rope, click 'Move to Path'
- Animate the dummy
here is a sample scene in 3ds max 2013.
When you need more controls for the spline shape, just add Edit Spline -modifiers (where you choose the vertices you want to move) with another linked xfrom -modifier (to assign a controller dummy).
p.s. you may need a 'normalize spline' modifier on top of the pulley shape stack.
