Girl with crooked eye, Boris Hergesic (3D)

Title: Girl with crooked eye
Name: Boris Hergesic
Country: Croatia
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

There isn´t much to tell. I wanted to make portrait of beautiful woman. The crooked eye is something that reminds us that nothing is perfect.

I like her hairstyle which fits the time of the portrait quite well. But the color (it looks grey to a bit pinkish) suggests hair of a more mature woman, so does her pose and expression. All these fit together nicely but stand in high contrast (to my eye) to the perfect skin, free of any wrinkles. The texture of the skin is lacking highlights (again: to my eye) which could be due of the lighting or because of heavy layers of powder (which would fit the picture. The latter doesn't seem likely because there are small veins visible (especially the one below her left clavicle is fine :-) ).

Another contrast is her dress. It looks like you were going for old style here too, looking ad the embroidery and the patterns on the arms. The breast area has a certain look of chain mail but clings skin tight to her figure which would need the use of stretchy materials. The latter would be an anachronism to the suggested time of the picture.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of work went into this. It just hit me, that some parts artistically don't fit each other. On the other hand: that might have been your intention.

The idea of creating a otherwise attractive woman with an imperfection that (literally) catches the eye is a nice one. But considering the above, I think you could get even closer to the message you intended.

And to the above comment:
I see nothing constructive criticism in there. In fact - there's not even any useful information in it. Please think before you post. This in the hope I'm not feeding a troll.

Hi Sagdur, thank´s for your elaborate comment and your time. I did˙t realize that color of her hair would be more appropriate for older woman, but now that you have mention it, i could agree with you. The colors of hair worked with her dress, so i left it like that. Her face should be like it is havely powdered. Pose ,dress, background and lighting are ment to be old style.
The thing abut the streechy matreials is nice observation.
I must add that construcive criticizam is wellcome and appreciated.

I like the model, although something about the lighting makes her look like something out of Poser or DAZ. Maybe changing the colour of the main light will help.

You are very welcome, maxalex. And to make it complete: I definitely don't consider this picture bad work. We are here to improve and if my comments have been a bit of help for you - fine .

That's definitely an improvement. Especially the new hair color makes her believably younger.

It doesn't matter how much work you put into it - art is never finished. But you have to leave it as is at some point.

I'm waiting to see what will come up next.
