Peppercorn, Vanja Todoric (2D)

Title: Peppercorn

Name: Vanja Todoric

Country: Serbia

Software: Photoshop

Submitted: 30th January 2013

This is one of the illustrations i did for the "Serbian Fairytales" book. The name of this fairytale is "Peppercorn".
The story is about a boy who was born as small as the grain of pepper, but that didn't stop him to embark on an adventure that changed his life, and the lives of the people and creatures he met along the way.

Hope you guys like it :)

Incredible work. I love how there's so much character in this piece, even though we can't see his face. The proportions of the sword, the cape, and the meat, do a great job of framing the boy's physical and mental preparedness for the task at hand. His left arm looks a little stiff, though.

Thumbs up

How cute. Until I saw the boy, I thought that Peppercorn was the name of the dragon. I love the expression you got on the dragon's face (very well detailed as well) and I particularly like the eyes (great idea with the blue glow). I like the contrasting colors you used on the boy, cape, fireplace and cauldren (better compositional balance, so that its not just one part that had the contrasting colors, but multiple parts so that it carried through and allowed the eye to travel). The lower part of the dragon's body is a bit weak, but the arms and neck are good. The little boy is very cute and I like how you did his pose (very dynamic and you did a good job developing his form). Overall, a very charming piece. Keep it up. Great job.
