Intersecting particles and dynamics in X-Particles.

Soooo.... In X-Particles 3.5 I have scene where a load of particles fly in to view then turn down and land and cover the surface of another object. These particles then deform. This works fine in XP except cannot get the particles not to collide. P-P Collisions simply doesn't work as landing particles don't stop and pile up but flit around in the most maddening way, and still intersect after deforming. Using dynamics with TP means only the XP emitter works and the modifiers stop working altogether meaning the particles ignore the attractor and other modifiers and head off into the wild blue yonder.

If I use a simple mograph rig this works, although getting the clones to deform only after they have stopped is eluding me, although the dynamics means when they deform they move and jostle each other before settling, which works well.

It seems I might be missing something in combining XP and dynamics. Any ideas?
